✩ From a few friends… to the largest percussion school in Canada.

In a small neighborhood space, Louis Bellemare, a financier specializing in entertainment, began teaching percussion to a dozen friends in 1994. This passion became a movement: within a few years, the SAMAJAM School of Percussion grew to become the largest percussion institution in the country. Led by teachers from diverse backgrounds, it captivates adults and children with African, Brazilian, and Latin rhythms, as well as the energy of Stomp, dance, and Gumboot. With 800 students per week and notable appearances on stage and in the media, SAMAJAM has already proven that rhythm unites and inspires.

✩ Pioneer of musical team building in Quebec
Drawing on his extensive experience in management, particularly at the Caisse de dépôt as a director, investor, and member of numerous boards of directors, Louis Bellemare sees A powerful lever: using percussion to strengthen team communication and collaboration. SAMAJAM has created a participatory musical team-building concept where teams tackle collective challenges using percussion. The success is undeniable: up to 400 productions per year, and events that are perceived by companies as strategic and mobilizing experiences.

✩ Major School Tours, across Canada

Demand for SAMAJAM is exploding across Quebec. The concept is moving into schools with Rythmo ✩ The Magic of Rhythm, a 100% participatory, festive, and educational show that is touring across Canada. Then came SAM & AJAM ✩ Rhythm Riders, which, since 2023, has been breaking records in Quebec, Ontario, and the Maritime provinces.

En parallèle, SAMAJAM s’investit en persévérance scolaire avec l’appui du Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. En six ans, plus de 19 000 jeunes issus de milieux socio-économiques défavorisés participent à nos activités. Nous utilisons le rythme comme levier de confiance, de motivation et de réussite.

✩ A success that is becoming international
In 2016, SAMAJAM ✩ YOU ARE THE SHOW launched in Asia. The show became a phenomenon: in China, it established itself as the most-watched foreign family production in the country’s history. At its peak, six teams of artists toured simultaneously to meet demand. International tours followed, in numerous countries.

Today, SAMAJAM is established as the world leader in participatory live entertainment, with over 6,000 productions across 10 countries. And this story of passion, which began with a small group of friends, continues to unfold every day…
