The Djembe Show ✩ SAMAJAM is a signature SAMAJAM classic that has thrilled participants for over 20 years: a shared musical experience that is festive, inclusive and 100% participatory, bringing primary and secondary school students and family audiences at festivals, public events and youth performances together through group percussion.

Guided by an African master percussionist and accompanied by professional SAMAJAM artists, students discover the world of the djembe and create powerful, infectious rhythms together.

Open to everyone, with no musical experience required, this educational show for young audiences explores the richness of African rhythmic traditions through an immersive, dynamic cultural experience that brings people together.

✩ HOW THE SHOW WORKS ✩

During this 55-minute show (school format), each student receives a djembe and takes an active part in the experience. After a brief introduction to the instrument, the SAMAJAM artists guide the group in creating authentic, engaging rhythms together.
The activity is highly interactive, with the entire session devoted to active playing. Each student adds to the group’s energy and takes part in an immersive experience that encourages individual and collective expression.

Here is what we generally offer:

✩ 55 minutes (school format)

  • Up to 250 participants per performance
  • Up to 3 performances on the same day

  • Throughout Quebec and Canada

  • French and English (Spanish and Portuguese on request)

  • A djembe is provided to every participant
  • Everyone can participate, regardless of age.
  • No prior musical experience required

  • Available year-round

A fixed price, adjusted for travel distance.
