The African Percussion Workshop offered by SAMAJAM is an educational and 100% participatory experience where each student receives a tam-tam (djembe).
Under the guidance of a master percussionist, they explore the origins of this instrument, learn its main components, the proper playing posture, and basic playing techniques. They are led to produce authentic and captivating African sounds and rhythms.
During this educational and fun workshop, the participatory aspect encourages collective musical collaboration among students, while developing their sense of rhythm and coordination. By perfecting their rhythmic skills, awakening their creativity, and deepening their appreciation of a segment of African musical culture, students embark on a musical journey that is both authentic and memorable.
The drums then become their collective voice, telling a fascinating rhythmic story.

The SAMAJAM Drum Circle Workshop is an immersive, captivating, and 100% participatory musical experience, producing a spontaneous and rhythmic symphony. Each participant, equipped with the percussion instrument of their choice—whether a drum, bongo, cymbal, bell, clavé, musical tube, or shaker—becomes an essential link in this collective success.
Guided by SAMAJAM’s experienced artists, young people embark on the creation of spontaneous, collaborative music. This workshop, which requires no prior musical skills, creates a unique environment that fosters creativity, active listening, and cooperation. Each participant is invited to fully engage in the collective percussion symphony, discovering the vital role of their individual involvement within the group.
Much more than just entertainment, this workshop proves to be a true catalyst for group dynamics, promoting the development of social and artistic skills. It stimulates creativity, encourages open-mindedness, contributes to stress reduction, increases self-esteem in contributing to a group, and strengthens collective cohesion and harmony.

3 ✩ SAMAJAM™ MUSICAL TUBES
✩ Collective rhythmic creations
The SAMAJAM™ Musical Tubes Workshop offers a stimulating and 100% participatory learning adventure. Each student has the opportunity to choose one or more Musical Tubes, colorful and fun percussion instruments from the idiophone family. These instruments produce the sounds of the C major scale (C – D – E – F – G, etc.), and are color-coded for intuitive, fast, and incredibly entertaining learning.
Led by an experienced instructor, students explore the sonic potential of these instruments, learning various playing techniques and exploring a wide range of rhythmic patterns, and creating musical pieces. The workshop aims to familiarize students with key concepts such as rhythm, tempo, harmony, and musical expression, inviting them to engage in the creation of collective compositions in a variety of musical styles.
Using a simple, easy-to-play scale, the workshop facilitates successful group music creation. Encouraging the active engagement of each student, it stimulates collective rhythmic creation and promotes the development of essential skills such as coordination, musical listening, creative teamwork, and confidence in expressing oneself in a group.

The SAMAJAM Bucket Drumming Workshop is a musical, educational and 100% participatory experience that allows students to discover several rhythms using buckets transformed into percussion instruments.
Under the guidance of an experienced percussionist, they explore a variety of musical skills in a dynamic way, develop their sense of rhythm and collective coordination, improvise, and participate in educational and fun rhythmic games. Using sticks, they learn several forms and styles of rhythm, ranging from rock to reggae, including shuffle and funk.

The Tambourine Workshop offered by SAMAJAM is an educational and 100% participatory experience where each student receives one of five choices of tambourines, all of which are played with the strike of a stick.
Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, they learn the main components of this instrument, the proper playing posture, and basic playing techniques. They are encouraged to produce complementary sounds and vibrant, stimulating rhythms.
During this educational and fun workshop, the participatory aspect encourages collective musical collaboration among students, while developing their sense of rhythm and coordination. SAMAJAM’s African Dance Workshop is a vibrant and 100% participatory immersion into the heart of African rhythms, where dance and movement are the order of the day. During this workshop, under the direction of an experienced instructor, students are encouraged to actively participate. They experience a complete immersion, learning the distinctive steps, gestures, and movements of African dance, while stimulating their coordination, agility, and body language.
By letting themselves be carried away by the captivating rhythms and refining their sense of rhythm, participants experience an authentic artistic adventure where dance reveals itself to be a universal language of expression and celebration.

SAMAJAM’s Body Percussion Workshop is a unique, 100% participatory, educational dance and movement experience that invites you to discover the power of music by simply using your body as an instrument. Through the rhythmic tapping of hands and feet, students will learn to produce fascinating sounds and rhythms.
Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, students learn different body percussion techniques, developing their sense of rhythm and coordination, while exploring the sounds, rhythms and creative movements they can produce.
The workshop emphasizes active participation and fun, interactive exercises, allowing for the development of better collective musical listening, a deeper understanding of rhythmic structure, as well as the simplicity of execution and the power of body music.

✩ A Brazilian danced martial art
SAMAJAM’s Capoeira Workshop is an educational and 100% participatory experience that immerses students in the fascinating world of Capoeira, a dance incorporating Brazilian martial arts. Guided by an experienced Capoeira instructor, they will be introduced to the acrobatic movements, fascinating dance techniques, and rich musical rhythms that characterize this discipline.
The workshop encourages active participation, fostering the development of participants’ coordination, agility, and self-confidence. The workshop takes place to the sound of traditional Capoeira music, such as the berimbau and atabaque, creating an authentically rhythmic atmosphere.
Blending grace, strength, and musicality, this workshop also offers an immersion in the values conveyed by Capoeira, including respect, camaraderie, improved physical fitness, and coordination. The balance between play and healthy collaborative competition is also emphasized, offering an enriching and unique experience linked to this aspect of Brazilian culture.

The Maculelê Workshop, offered by SAMAJAM, is an educational and participatory experience that immerses students in this unique Afro-Brazilian dance form. Equipped with long sticks called grimas, participants are guided by an experienced dancer-instructor in a lively practice that blends distinctive acrobatic movements with lively rhythms.
During this movement-based workshop, students explore the history of dance, learn traditional Brazilian songs, and simultaneously strengthen their coordination and body expression.
Additionally, with a focus on participation, this workshop encourages students to engage in group choreography, master stick-striking techniques, and participate in traditional songs. This interactive experience helps build their confidence in their ability to express themselves in a group setting, while also allowing them to immerse themselves in a rich segment of Brazilian culture.
