WHAT IS SAM & AJAM ✩ RHYTHM RIDERS?

Students raise their ClavSticks during the show
Every student has a musical part to play.

A 100% participatory musical show where the students make the music themselves.

SAM & AJAM ✩ Rhythm Riders is a school adaptation of the international SAMAJAM concept, designed for elementary and secondary students and youth groups. The experience brings everyone together, transforming the gymnasium, auditorium or theatre into one huge percussion orchestra.

Guided by two professional SAMAJAM artists, students embark on a rhythmic adventure combining body percussion, SAMAJAM™ Musical Tubes, ClavSticks, group challenges and rhythms inspired by eight countries and regions around the world. Depending on the format selected, tambourines are added as a third instrument.

The result: an inclusive, energizing experience where students learn, listen to one another and succeed together, with no prior musical experience.

WHAT STUDENTS EXPERIENCE

Two SAMAJAM artists lead a gymnasium full of students
Two artists guide the whole school live.

From the very first note, everyone in the room listens, responds and creates together.

Here’s what every student receives, plays and experiences during the show.

  • A 55-minute school show with participation at the heart of the experience
  • A pair of ClavSticks for every student
  • One SAMAJAM™ Musical Tube for every student (C, D, E, F and G)
  • Body percussion, movement and rhythmic challenges
  • Rhythm and music theory concepts learned through play
  • A shared musical creation built on five notes and five colours
  • A musical journey inspired by eight countries and regions around the world
  • A grand finale where the whole school plays as one ensemble
  • Two professional artists who guide every segment live

A shared musical achievement that brings together students, teachers and school staff.

THE SAMAJAM INSTRUMENTS GIVEN TO STUDENTS

Students play their SAMAJAM™ Musical Tubes

The show begins as soon as students receive their instruments.

Every participant receives simple, colourful, easy-to-play instruments, designed to be played at specific moments throughout the experience.

The reaction is immediate: even before the first beat, students want to try, listen and play together. The SAMAJAM experience has already begun…

CLAVSTICKS ✩ SAMAJAM

INCLUDED

Every participant receives a pair of these rhythm sticks, a playful cross between drumsticks and claves. Their crisp, woody sound brings the beat, call-and-response games and group challenges to life.

MUSICAL TUBES ✩ SAMAJAM™

INCLUDED

Every student receives a tuned, colour-coded tube: C, D, E, F or G. The room divides into five musical teams that listen, wait for their cue and combine their notes to create real melodies.

TAMBOURINES ✩ SAMAJAM

3RD INSTRUMENT ✩ OPTIONAL

Tambourines can be added for all participants. They bring the power of a hand drum and create a spectacular group segment, without changing the 55-minute school show duration.

A FULLY PARTICIPATORY MUSICAL SHOW

Students take part in the show with tambourines
Clear cues. Immediate progress.

Played by the students. Guided by SAMAJAM artists.

✩ The artists show students in real time when to play, what to play and how to build the music together.

✩ Visual, gestural and rhythmic cues allow every section of the room to play its part at the right moment.

✩ Body percussion, ClavSticks and SAMAJAM™ Musical Tubes follow a clear progression that turns learning into a group game.

NO SCREEN REQUIRED FOR THE STANDARD SCHOOL FORMAT

✩ The standard school format requires no screen, projections or video games. A version with projections is available only on request at schools with the necessary equipment.
